Vi light the first candle in advent. The windows are clean and new curtains are up. The advent stars and lights are shining in all the windows. I feel content!...
I år vill jag göra allt i god tid inför julen. Jag tänker inte stressa! Första laddningen med kålrotslåda ligger redan i frysen. Jag älskar julen med allt pyntande, matlagning och bakning...bara man kan få god tid på sig. Många säger: Men köp färdiglagat och ...inte behöver man tvätta fönster...eller , ta det inte så allvarligt. Men varför skall vi döda alla gamla traditioner?? Förmodligen för att döva våra egna samveten för att vi inte orkar leva upp till allt. Men om allt skall vara som vanligt...vad är det då för mening med jul?! Men för mig är det ingen uppoffring, tvärtom! Jag vill ge mina barn underbara minnen av magiska jular, och då menar jag inte en massa paket utan själva stämningen. Doftande rent överallt , god hemlagad mat, familjen som samlas, den riktiga granen som doftar så gott, alla gamla fina julsaker som med andakt får plockas fram, julmusiken .
This year I want to make all things in good time before christmas. I don´t want to feel stressed! The first load of homemade christmasfood is already in the fridge. I love christmas with all the decorating, cooking and baking...I just want to have enought time to do it all. Many people say: but why don´t You by readymade food and why do You have to clean the windows?..or...don´t take it so seriously!. But why do we want to kill all the good traditions handed down through all the past generations?? Probably to kill our own conciense because we can´t live up to all that. But for me this is not a sacrifice, on the contrary! I want to give my children wonderful memories of a magical christmas, and I don´t mean just a big load of christmas presents but rather the magical atmosphere of christmas. The scent of a house cleaned with good old soft soap, homecooked traditional food , the family gathering, the real spruce christmas tree sending great scents through the room, all the beautiful old christmasdecorations with a history and soul... and not to forget the christmas music, old beautiful hymns and psalms.
Jag tror att vi behöver detta uppbrott från vardagslunken, vi behöver få glittra och glimma lite och äta god mat utan en mass E tillsatser. Jag känner att ju äldre jag blir desto mer vill jag att vi vårdar våra traditioner, desto mer vill jag att det skall kännas äkta. Ingen plastgran för mig...absolut inga massproducerade plastiga, fula, skräppynt made in China eller Taiwan!! Usch sånt får mig att må illa. Jag vill ha riktiga naturmaterial: Lin i dukar , handbroderade skatter och riktigt glas i kulorna (OK på de nedersta grenarna i granen måste vi tyvärr ha plastkulor för katten Esmeralda ÄLSKAR att dra ur dem ur granen och leka med dem...och hon käkar glitter!!) Jag ser hellre att jag och barnen gör eget julpynt med själ. Och jag pyntar med naturens vackraste smycken: mossa, kottar, gamla fina grenar, tall- och enris.
I think we need a break from everyday life. We need to glitter and glimmer in the dark and eat some good food without all the chemical additives that are in readymade foods. I feel that the older I get the more I want to nurture the old traditions, the more I want things to be "real". No plastic christmas tree for me...and absolutely no massproduced plastic,uggly crap made in China or Taiwan!! Those things make me feel sick! I want natural materials , handembroidered tablecloths, and real glass in the christmas tree ornaments ( OK we are forced to decorate the lowest branches of the tree with plastic ornaments because our cat Esmeralda just LOVES to rip them down and play with them...and she eats glitter too!) I´d rather make the christmas decorations myself together with the children...that gives the decorations a soul. And I use whatever I find in the woods to decorate inside and outside the house: moss, fir and pinecones, juniper twigs and beautiful wheathered treebranches.
Jag kan se en tänkvärd och god trend i den skandinavisk-franska lantliga inredningsstilen: Vi använder naturmaterial och pyntar med mossa och gran och där massproducerat plastskräp är BANNLYST! Bra, bra! Då är vi på rätt väg! Naturvänligt och mycket vackrare!
I can see a trend in the Scandinavian-french countrystyle that is good and worth considering: We use natural materials and decorate with moss and whatever the nature can provide us with. AND plastic massproduced crap are banned! That´s good! We are on the right track! Ecofriendly and much more beautiful!
Och för att vara ärlig: Vi behöver inte alla det där fula sakerna med dålig kvalitet som är massproducerade med det enda syftet att tjäna pengar. Låt oss uppskatta riktigt hantverk med själ. Vi behöver känna våra rötter och traditioner där handens arbete värdesätts, för att kunna växa upp mot ljuset och framtiden med hedern i behåll och ge våra barn ett arv att de kan vara stolta över.
And to be honest: We don´t need all those horrible massproduced things with bad quality produced with only one goal: to make plenty of fast money. Give the honor to real handcrafted items with a heart and soul. We need to be aware of our roots and traditions where the labour of the hand is appreciated properly, to be able to grow towards the light and the future with our honour safe and sound and give our children a herritage they can be proud of.
